Circular healthcare infrastructure

Hospital waste,
made circular.

We decontaminate contaminated medical waste electrically — no fire, no smoke — and return it to the chain as raw material. Permitted. Contracted. Operations start October 2026.

The problem

Healthcare is burning raw materials.

The Netherlands produces up to 22,000 tonnes of specific hospital waste per year. Virtually all of it is incinerated — at high temperature, losing all material value. Just as the Dutch Green Deal on Sustainable Healthcare 3.0 requires care institutions to cut CO₂ by 55% before 2030, and CSRD forces them to report Scope 3 emissions.

1 · CollectionOn site, in UN-certified drums (30/50/60 L).
2 · TransportBy the collection partner to the processor.
3 · IncinerationAt ≥ 1,000 °C, in the Netherlands or exported to Belgium.
4 · Loss100% of the material value is lost.

"We are not a recycling company that happens to serve hospitals. We are the circular infrastructure of healthcare."

How it works

Decontaminate instead of incinerate.

Every kilo is tagged on arrival and tracked through to the end buyer — one closed chain, four steps.

01

Decontamination

Ecosteryl lines shred and disinfect the waste in a single pass using microwave technology — heating above 100 °C, fully electric. The output is dry and non-infectious, with 100% of the material value still available.

02

Sorting

Automated separation into PP, PE, PVC, mixed plastics and metals. The sorting steps have been validated with sample material at IFE, Tomra and Sesotec.

03

Raw material

We supply plastic flakes and metal fractions ex works Velsen-Noord. The material goes to certified buyers as raw material.

04

Bucket production

From our own raw material we produce the buckets hospitals use to deliver their waste. The loop closes — in-house.

The result

Realistically, 65 to 70% of treated waste returns to the chain as raw material (77% theoretical mass balance). The residual stream shrinks by ±80%.

The proof

Our own dashboard from intake to end buyer. A certificate per kilo, CSRD-ready. Conclusive reporting towards the Green Deal on Sustainable Healthcare 3.0.

Four pillars

Decarbonise. Decontaminate.
Recover. Report.

Decarbonise

From incinerator to circular loop: 16,500 tonnes of healthcare waste per year diverted from incineration at full scale. 100% electric.

Decontaminate

Ecosteryl microwave — industrially proven, no R&D risk. Permitted for 3,000 tonnes per year.

Recover

From red bag to raw material: realistically 65–70% back into the chain, validated at IFE, Tomra and Sesotec.

Report

Sustainability you can verify: dashboard, chain of custody, a certificate per kilo.

Velsen-Noord

The factory is the hero.

No stock photos, no green leaves, no hands holding a globe. This is the real place: the hall in Velsen-Noord, the technology of manufacturer Ecosteryl and the material returning to the chain. Our own factory photography follows with the build-out and the start in October 2026.

Six of seven UMCs

Six of the seven Dutch university medical centres are contractually in view through European tenders — together accounting for 1,973 tonnes per year, with terms of 4 to 8 years. In addition, the Santeon Group has issued letters of intent for five major hospitals.

For investors

Contracted demand. Proven technology. One route to market leadership.

The serviceable Dutch market is 21,000 tonnes per year. Incineration is concentrated and capped; regulation is forcing change. Blue2Green is the only chain combining decontamination, sorting and raw-material off-take — modularly scalable to multiple platforms.
