Cees Duijn

Managing Director

Cees is the founder of Blue2Green. He developed the route to decontaminate and sort contaminated hospital waste into reusable raw material, secured the permit for Velsen-Noord and built the contractual base with the Dutch university medical centres.

He knows the chain from the inside, from collection on the ward to the requirements of a European tender. As managing director he leads the organisation and holds the relationships with hospitals and care institutions.

Patrick Jonk

Site Manager Velsen-Noord

Patrick runs the place where it happens: the hall on Eendrachtsstraat. He sets up the site, oversees installation and commissioning of the first two Ecosteryl lines, writes the work instructions and safety routines, and builds the first shift of operators.

From the commercial start in October 2026, daily operations run through him: intake, throughput, chain of custody and the quality of every batch that leaves the gate.

Thomas Baert

Project Manager Technology & Operations

Thomas carries technology and operations across the platforms. He develops the engineering of the lines with manufacturer Ecosteryl, is involved in the factory acceptance tests before a machine is shipped, and leads the expansion with the third line and the automated sorting line.

What works in Velsen-Noord he captures as a blueprint. Every technical decision on the first site is therefore a decision for the next platforms as well.

Maja van den Handel

Finance Manager

Maja holds the organisation together behind the scenes. Financial administration and reporting, contract and document management, subsidy files and time accounting, HR administration and the IT environment all run through her.

She is the first point of contact for administrative and contractual questions from partners, suppliers and advisers.

Cees: relationships with hospitals and care institutions, tenders, permits and the substance of the proposition.

Operations in Velsen-Noord

Patrick: site set-up, building the shifts, safety, daily throughput and the quality of outgoing streams.

Technology across platforms

Thomas: engineering with Ecosteryl, acceptance tests, sorting line, and the blueprint for the next sites.

Business operations and finance

Maja: administration and reporting, contract and document management, subsidy files and HR administration.

Over the next two years the team goes from four people to dozens: operators, logistics, commercial and office roles. We run recruitment with one dedicated partner, so every candidate gets the same route and the same attention.
